At MedPlus Clinic (My Health Medical Clinic Ltd), the safety and wellbeing of our patients is our highest priority. We are fully committed to safeguarding children, young people, and adults at risk from abuse, neglect, or harm.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all concerns are taken seriously.

1. What Is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding means:

  • Protecting people’s health, dignity, and human rights

  • Ensuring individuals are safe from abuse, neglect, exploitation, or harm

  • Taking appropriate action if we believe someone may be at risk

This applies to children (under 18 years of age) and adults at risk, including those who may be vulnerable due to illness, disability, care needs, or other circumstances.

3. Who We Safeguard

Children & Young People

We follow national safeguarding guidance to protect children and young people from:

  • Physical, emotional, or sexual abuse

  • Neglect

  • Domestic abuse

  • Exploitation

  • Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

  • Radicalisation or coercion


Adults at Risk

We safeguard adults who may be at risk of:

  • Physical, emotional, or sexual abuse

  • Neglect or self-neglect

  • Financial or material abuse

  • Psychological or discriminatory abuse

  • Domestic abuse or coercive control

  • Modern slavery

7. Confidentiality & Information Sharing

We respect patient confidentiality at all times. However, if someone is at risk of serious harm, we may need to share information with appropriate safeguarding authorities.

Any information sharing is carried out:

  • Lawfully

  • On a need-to-know basis

  • In line with UK data protection legislation


8. Working With Other Agencies

Where appropriate, we work closely with:

  • Local Authority Safeguarding Teams

  • Health and social care professionals

  • Police and emergency services
